The Spartans compete against other youth organizations in the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL).  The Spartans offer tackle football for kids ages 6 (1st grade) through age 13/14 (8th grade).  Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of football and promote sportsmanship.  If you are looking to have your child learn the fundamentals of football and have fun, you are in the right place!  Come join us and become a Spartan!

Formed and operating since 1988, Spartan Youth Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who utilizes community volunteers and youth sports to foster a positive learning environment in which children can develop mental, physical, and emotional growth. By promoting commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship, children of all ages and ability gain confidence and learn life-long lessons.

Spartan Youth Club - Youth Come First!

1st - 3rd Grade Rookie Tackle Football (RFL):

The Spartans and the AYL are extremely excited to continue offering our ROOKIE TACKLE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!  The AYL Rookie Tackle Football League (RFL) has been designed as a bridge between Flag football and our traditional competitive tackle football program.  The RFL is focused on players in grades 1st through 3rd only. This provides full tackle experience for your player and is limited to 8 players, on filed, per side and smaller roster sizes. Allowing for equal playing time. RFL is played on a 60 yard by 40-yard field (same as 4th grade).  Games are 20 plays per quarter at 1st & 2nd grade, 22 players per quarter for 3rd grade. Coaches on the field for both offense and defense.  The establishment of our RFL provides the best possible development aspect for players new to tackle football.

4th - 8th Grade NFC DIVISION:

Our NFC tackle football division is considered one of the highest levels of competition in Colorado and Spartans are a powerhouse.  Our NFC division offers teams fitted for beginner/intermediate to the most experienced of players.  We have multiple teams within each grade. We offer teams to fit your players experience and skill level, for grades 4th-8th.  While our NFC division is extremely competitive, it focuses on teaching the fundamentals of football, while having fun. Our NFC division competes in the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL), against other extremely competitive teams.  We guarantee each player minimum plays per game.  Most children will play more than this, this is just the minimum plays required. Prior to each football season, our club holds player evaluations, for interested players.  These evaluations are posted on our website, social media page and emailed out.  Evaluations are for players looking for a team or waiting to join a new team.

NFC levels of competition:

  • Beginner - for first year players or players who need more experience.
  • Intermediate - for players with 2 or more years of experience
  • Advanced - for experienced players competing at the highest level.

Equipment:

Football equipment can be purchased at any sporting goods store. Spartans’ official colors are purple, graphite and Vegas gold. Our football teams wear our reversible jerseys, these can be purchased through our online store.  All teams/players must have our official game jersey, there will be no custom jerseys.  Helmets are Spartan gloss purple with black facemask, purple, white or gray pants (coaches will inform you of color) and game socks (also from coaches).  Equipment needed, helmet, shoulder pads, pants and pads, game jerseys, socks, mouthpiece, and cleats. *NOTE clear and/or white colored mouth guards are not allowed for games.  We recommend you not purchase any gear, until you are certain your child has been placed on a team or you have been contacted by your coach.  The Spartans will not be responsible for the reimbursement of any costs associated with the purchase of any equipment in the event your child cannot be placed on a team.

The Spartan Coaches:

Here at Spartan Youth Club, the safety of your child is our number one priority.  As such, we conduct background checks on all coaches and team managers every year.  Our coaches are all dedicated volunteers.  They strive to make your child’s experience with Spartans as fun and educational as possible.  Most of our coaches have coached, with us for many years. We have many experienced coaches that want to help your child, grow as a player and team.   Spartans is always looking for volunteer coaches, if you are interested.
