8th grade Select Team

The Spartans have formed an 8th grade select team for the more committed and competitive players to band together to develop and test their skills at a competitive level.

Try-outs for the Select Team were held on Saturday, December 8th, at the South Suburban Sports Dome.  37 candidates competed for roster spots and 22 were finally chosen. 

The Spartan Lacrosse Program would first like to thank Scott Olson, Geoff Baylis and Michael Fisher, all of whom coached our candidates last year.  Your ongoing contributions have allowed the Program to make the vision of the Select Team a reality.  Thank you for your support and assistance. 

The Program also wishes to thank all of the following individuals for their contributions to the try-out process:

Important Select Team Try-out and Registration Info

Try-outs for the 8th Grade Select Team will be held this Saturday, 3 - 5 pm, at the South Suburban Sports Dome.  All players that wish to participate in the try-outs must register.  Registration will occur at the facility approximately 30- 60 minutes before the try-outs begin.  To expedite this process, please do the following:

• Download, print, complete and sign the Try-out Registration Form

• Download print, READ, and sign the Statement of Commitment

• NOTE: A parent/guardian must sign BOTH forms

• Bring both completed forms and your $20 try-out fee to the Sports Dome

• Present your forms and payment to the registration table.  You will be given a T-shirt and a set of identifying numbers

• Place the number on your helmet, one of the left side, one on the right side, and one on the back – THESE NUMBERS ARE IMPORTANT AS THEY WILL BE THE ONLY WAY TO IDENTIFY YOU DURING THE TRY-OUT

• Take the field, fully dressed and ready to go, by 3pm

Try-out Fee Payment

• $20 – used offset the field rental and administrative cost for the try-out

• Cash or Check – make checks payable to Spartan Youth Club

Select Team Clinic and Try-out Dates Set

Clinic - 12/1/2007

The Spartans will conduct a free clinic for all 8th grade players on Saturday, December 1st, from 4pm - 5:30pm at the South Suburban Sports Dome.  The clinic is designed to provide all of our 8th grade players a chance to get back into the lacrosse mode and work on their skills before the Select Team try-outs.  Since the clinic will be run by members of our Select Team coaching staff, it will also provide everyone a chance to meet the staff and understand the expectations going into try-out.  All 8th grade players, at all skill levels are invited and encouraged to attend!

Try-out - 12/8/2007

The Select Team try-out will be held on Saturday, December 8th, from 3pm - 5pm at the South Suburban Sports Dome. All participants must register to try-out.  Registration will occur, on site the day of the try-outs so please plan to arrive approximately 30 minutes early to complete the process.  Cost to register is $20 and includes a Select Team Try-out T-Shirt

Select Team Announces Coaching Staff

The Spartans are excited to announce the 2008 coaching staff for the 8th Grade Select Team.  Dave Long will serve as Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator.  Todd Olson will be the Assistance Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator.  Both Dave and Todd bring a wealth of lacrosse experience to the Spartan Program.  They have a great passion for the game and embody the committed and competitive spirit of the Select Team concept. Please click here to read Dave and Todd's impressive lacrosse bio's.
