Spartan Youth Club

The Spartans will field teams from 2nd grade through 8th grade and will compete in the Colorado Youth Lacrosse Association. You must register for the grade that you are currently in as there are no play-downs or play-ups, except if approved by the coaching staffs and Lacrosse Director. On the registration form, please mark the level you wish to play at - Novice, Intermediate or Competitive. Novices should be first or second year players, intermediates should have played at least two years or have mastered throwing and catching. If you are a returning player or know the coach you want to play for, please indicate the coach on the registration form. Every effort will be taken to honor your request but it is not guaranteed that you will get the coach you request.

COMPETITIVE TEAMS

Players wishing to play on a competitive team may apply for competitive but are not guaranteed that they will be selected by the competitive coaches. For more information on this, please visit the Spartan Select link.

SEASON OVERVIEW

First practices will begin the latter part of February. Games begin in March or April -- TDB by the CYLA Board. Games are generally played on Saturday's, although the possibility of weekday and Sunday games does exist. The regular season will end by Memorial Day. The Warrior Jamboree Tournament officially ends the Spring lacrosse season and is held the weekend following the Memorial Day weekend.

UNIFORMS AND EQUPIMENT

The registration fee does not include the uniform or equipment. The basic equipment should include: Helmet, Shoulder pads, Arm pads, Stick, Mouth guard and cleats. Equipment can be purchased at several specialty stores or most major sporting goods stores.

REGISTRATION

The registration fee for the 2009 season will be $145. The registration fee includes membership in US Lacrosse, helmet decals, a team/individual picture combo, tournament fee stipend, all league and administrative fees, and admission to the Spartans end of season party at the Denver Outlaws.

To guarantee you a place in the program, all registrations must be received by the Spartans no later than December 31st. Registrations received after December 31st will be on a space available basis and will be assessed a $10 late registration fee. The registration fee does not include the uniform or equipment. We highly encourage the use of online registration but if you are more comfortable with paper, registration forms are available at the Spartans Store and may also be downloaded from this web site. COACHES

AS WITH ALL YOUTH SPORTS, WE RELY ON PARENTS TO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME IN COACHING THE KIDS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN COACHING BUT DON'T THINK YOU HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE, DON'T WORRY, WE WILL BE HOLDING SEVERAL CLINICS TO TEACH YOU THE BASIC THINGS THE KIDS SHOULD KNOW. THE KIDS ARE DEPENDING ON YOU TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO LEARN, COMPETE AND HAVE FUN!!!
