Welcome to Spartan Youth Club Baseball!

 

Registration for the 2020 Spring Season will start on Thursday, December 12th.  Early Bird registration ends December 31st.  Registrations are accepted on a first come first serve basis (based on when you signed up online and full payment has been received). A limited amount of space is available and programs do fill quickly. 

 

 

Spartan Youth Club baseball is for ages 5-14 (we do not offer a T-ball league). 

 

Age Cutoff Date for Baseball

Prior to the 2006 baseball season, AYL and Spartan Youth Club adopted the age cutoff change being implemented by all youth baseball organizations. The age cutoff date for AYL is May 1st  For example, to play in the 12u division in 2018, a player can not turn 13 before May 1, 2020 .

8 AAA Player Pitch

All other ages and level of play is Player Pitch

 

2020 AA Season:

 

The AYL 2020 AA season will consist of 10 league games for teams 8 and up, a 3 game guarantee season opening Jamboree, plus a single elimination playoff.  The season will end in Mid June with the World Series play at the end of June, early July.

 

All teams at age 6 and up will play at the "AA" level.

Season opening AA season opening Jamboree April 3rd, 4th and 5th (3 Game Guarantee)

Most AA teams will participate.  Please ask your club representative for more details on this tournament.

Coach pitch formats will be played at age 6 and 7.

A modified coach pitch format will be played at the 8 years old level.

All ages, all teams, may be AA National or AA American, American being the higher level of competition.

League games will be played on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday's beginning early April, 2020 and will be concluded Mid June, 2020. Teams will normally play two (2) games per week, but may play three (3) if needed. League games will not be scheduled on Easter Sunday, Memorial Day weekend or during the AYL's. 

PLEASE NOTE: Weekends that show no games does not mean it will not have games, weather does impact baseball and games will be loaded on available weekends for play.  

At the conclusion of the league games, ALL TEAMS will be seeded for the single elimination playoffs. Playoff games will begin Mid June 2020 with the World Series played late June at (TBD).  

Please Note: All seeding is done by the AYL baseball board.

The World Series will be a single game championship game. 

 

AYL Competitive League

 

Majors Season Overview: (Ages 9 - 13)

 

A 14 Game season starting in Early March for all ages, games will be played Tuesday through Thursday.  The game range format maximizes game schedules and is utilized by the board’s discretion on maximizing games played.  

Interleague games shall be played.

Teams participating are not allowed any bye requests for regular season or playoff games.  

Any team that is unavailable for the playoffs or World Series due to outside tournament conflicts or travel will be removed from the end of season AYL playoffs.

The division is limited to no more than eight (8) teams in each age, however, in certain circumstances board discretion on the number of teams will be used for schedule optimization.

Teams that register to play in the AYL; they will need to indicate the level of play desired. Please note, that does not mean you will play at that level.  At the discretion of the AYL Baseball Board, all teams will be reviewed and seeded to determine the appropriate participation level for each team.

At the conclusion of the regular season play, all teams will participate in a single elimination playoff.  The playoffs will begin in late May and and conclude in early June.  Trophies will be awarded to the top 2 teams participating in the World Series game. There are no trophies for regular season finish.

 

AAA Season Overview: (Ages 9 - 13)

 

A 14 Game season starting in Early March for all ages, games will be played on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday only.  The game range format maximizes game schedules and is utilized by the board’s discretion on maximizing games played.  Please note that if weather impacts the season, addition games may be added at the discretion of the board.

Interleague games shall be played.

Teams participating are not allowed any bye requests for regular season or playoff games.  

Any team that is unavailable for the playoffs or World Series due to outside tournament conflicts or travel will be removed from the end of season AYL playoffs.

The divisions will be limited to no more than the next ten (10) teams in each age (Board discretion may apply).  This level may be divided between American and National play with inter-division play.

Teams that register to play in the AYL; they will need to indicate the level of play desired. Please note, that does not mean you will play at that level.  At the discretion of the AYL Baseball Board, all teams will be reviewed and seeded to determine the appropriate participation level for each team.

AYL Baseball board may approve an AAA National division and an AAA American division (depending on team totals and field availability).

At the conclusion of the regular season play, all AAA teams will participate in a single elimination playoff.  The playoffs will begin in late May and and conclude in early June.  Trophies will be awarded to the top 2 teams participating in the World Series game. There are no trophies for regular season finish.

 

8 Competitive Season Overview:

Futures League

(Formally C=Prep)

AAA // Majors 
 

The Futures League games are based largely upon High School baseball rules.

The playing field will include 90’ bases and 60’ 6" pitching distance with a pitching mound.
 
**  In Territory Rules do APPLY and Rosters are required for the Futures League.
 
**  All teams must follow the USA, USSSA and AYL bat rules, however, is exempt from the High School -3/BBcor requirement.
 
**  Protests will be allowed per AYL rules.
 
**  Games have a 1:45 hour time limit. 

**  Must follow all AYL exception rules

 

Futures League (AAA and Majors) consist of an American division and a National division (American being the more competitive). The two divisions are intended to provide teams quality games against similar competition. Teams are placed by the number of 7th graders or 8th graders a team has. At the discretion of the AYL Baseball Board, teams may be moved between divisions to balance the competition.

 

The Futures League season will consist of 8 league games and a single elimination playoff at the conclusion of the spring season. Games will be played Monday through Thursday, beginning Early March, 2020 through Early May, 2020. Games will be played during the week. (see season on the baseball main page)

 

Schedules will be prepared with teams playing up to two (2) games per week in March. In the event of a cancelation, re-scheduled games will be played at the earliest opportunity where both teams are available, not to exceed 3 games per week for either team.

 

Futures League will have a single elimination playoff the last week of the season. The single elimination playoffs will begin in Early May, 2020, with the Futures League AAA and Majors championship game played Mid May, 2020. First and second place teams will receive individual trophies and a team plaque. Teams will be seeded by their finish in the spring season games. Separate playoffs will be held for both division teams.

World Series Games will be held at TBD.

 

 

 

 

 

Spartans will no longer be furnishing team batting helmets for the A/AA Teams. Each child will be required to provide an NOCSAE certified batting helmet. All helmets must be Gold, Black or Purple.  For safety as well as hygiene, we as a board feel it is in the best interests of all that each and every player has their own helmet.. You can expect to pay somewhere between $17.00 and $35.00 for a properly approved helmet.
